Donald Trump on Voter Turnout Funds for India: U.S. President Donald Trump has halted the $21 million (approximately ₹170 crore) in aid being given to promote voter turnout in India.

After signing several executive orders, Trump stated that India is one of the countries with the highest taxes in the world and that India has plenty of money.

On Tuesday, President Trump explained why he stopped the U.S. financial aid meant to promote voter turnout in India.

The Department of Government Efficiency, led by entrepreneur Elon Musk, had informed that USAID had provided $21 million to India’s Election Commission to increase voter turnout.

In a press conference, Trump said, “Why are we giving India $21 million? India has plenty of money. India is one of the countries that imposes the highest taxes on us globally.

We can barely access their market because their tariffs (taxes on foreign goods) are too high.”

During his visit to the U.S., Trump had also called Modi a good friend.

However, while making his point, he also mentioned that he has great respect for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Trump repeatedly says that Modi is a good friend of his, and he holds him in high regard.

Even during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the U.S., Trump referred to Modi as a close friend.

Trump consistently refers to Modi as a good friend, emphasizing his respect for the Indian leader.”

Despite their friendship, Trump always prioritizes American interests when it comes to global matters.”
