Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again reiterated that his administration played a key role in the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

In an interview on Saturday, Trump stated that the United States achieved a major diplomatic success by preventing a potential nuclear war between the two nations,

but he claimed that his efforts have not been given due credit.

Speaking to Fox News, a network under the Star Group, Trump said that there is deep hatred between India and Pakistan.

The tensions had escalated to such an extent that the next step could have been a nuclear strike.

Trump said, “When I spoke to India and Pakistan, both countries were attacking each other in a tit-for-tat manner.

They were very angry. These are not small nations; both are nuclear powers.”

He further added, “The next time, the ‘N word’ was likely to be used. And you know what the ‘N word’ stands for? Nuclear.”

Trump’s U-turn: No mediation, only assistance in peace efforts

Donald Trump had earlier claimed multiple times that he was responsible for brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

However, on Friday, Trump backtracked from his previous statements, clarifying that he did not mediate between the two countries but merely helped in facilitating peace.

Initially, he had taken full credit for the ceasefire efforts.

Donald Trump claimed his administration played a key role in preventing a potential nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan.

He stated both nations were attacking each other in retaliation and were on the verge of using nuclear weapons.

Trump said he spoke to leaders of both countries to calm the situation and avoid escalation.

Later, he clarified that he didn’t mediate directly but only helped in maintaining peace.

India rejected Trump’s claim that trade was used as leverage, saying trade was never discussed.

Trump also claimed that he used trade as leverage to bring about the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
