President Donald Trump has directed American companies to hire Indian graduates from local universities with a Gold Card citizenship.

He mentioned that earlier, American companies faced difficulties in hiring them, and as a result, students would “go back to India, start companies, and become billionaires.

” He further added that people come to the U.S. from other countries to study and then return to their own countries to become billionaires.

Trump has introduced a plan to issue a Gold Card for $5 million, making the path to U.S. citizenship easier.

On Wednesday, Trump questioned the current immigration policy, which forces talented individuals, especially from countries like India, to leave the U.S.

He said, “People come from India, China, Japan, and many other places, studying at Harvard,

The Wharton School of Finance… They even get job offers, but those offers are quickly withdrawn because companies don’t know whether the students will be able to stay in the U.S.” Speaking about the consequences of this policy,

Trump noted that many talented students are forced to leave the U.S. He added that these individuals return to their home countries and become successful entrepreneurs.

Trump remarked, “They go back to India or wherever they came from, start companies there, and become billionaires, providing jobs to thousands of people.”

What is the Gold Card?

On Tuesday, Trump announced a plan to replace the 35-year-old investor visa with a new Gold Card, which will be available for $5 million.h

Those who obtain the Gold Card will be eligible for U.S. citizenship. Speaking in the Oval Office, Trump said, “Wealthy and successful people can obtain this visa.

They will invest a lot of money, pay a lot of taxes, create a lot of jobs, and I think this plan will be very successful.”

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said that within two weeks, the Trump Gold Card will replace the EB-5 visa.

The EB-5 visa was introduced by Congress in 1990 to encourage foreign investment, allowing individuals to qualify by investing $1 million in the U.S.

According to the annual figures from the Department of Homeland Security related to immigration, by September 30, 2022, nearly 8,000 people had obtained investor visas in the previous 12 months.

The Congressional Research Service had stated in 2021 that the EB-5 visa had the potential for fraud.

Trump said, “The Gold Card will be like a Green Card but without any risk of fraud.

It will pave the way for U.S. citizenship, especially for wealthy and talented individuals.”

While Congress determines eligibility for citizenship, Trump added that congressional approval would not be required for the Gold Card.
